It's Aries season! Burberry, Hotpot, & the Duchess of Sussex

✨ welcome back to the second iteration of Weekly Gems!

♈️it’s Aries season! As a Pisces-Aries Cusp, apparently I’m a mix of the “dreamy, imaginative Pisces” and the “fiery, action-oriented Aries”. It’s fitting that the content I consumed this week revolves around dreamy themes and strong women.

this week, I’ve been enamored with the duchess of sussex, Meghan Sussex (Markle)! Do not understand the hate this woman receives! She’s strong, engaging, and kind. I’ve really been enjoying her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. It’s so calming and I love how she interacts with her guests. Also her garden is *goals*. As a result, I started listening to her podcast Archetypes. It’s incredibly thoughtful, introspective, and well-executed with very interesting cultural commentary.

🎥Severance and Mickey 17 were excellent and displays of how amazing human imagination can be in telling stories while both having themes revolving around human worth and identity. More thoughtful reviews of both of these to come!

📖bookwise, i’ve finally started reading Haruki Murakami’s latest novel— The City and its Uncertain Walls. It was one of the best-packaged ARCs I’ve received from a publisher (thank you Knopf and Penguin). It’s definitely on the dreamy side but i’ll hold my final commentary until I finish it!

👗outfit-wise, I’ve reverted back to factory settings (aka as a Burberry girl). I love this outfit because of how classy and powerful it makes me feel. The Burberry coat’s classic, structured silhouette and warm 100% wool composition feels like the perfect power move & a hug all in one. Meanwhile, the dart in these Uniqlo trousers really class it up while remaining super comfortable with an elastic waistband. A cute Burberry crossbody and Nine West heels to finish.

🧴not much commentary on my fragrance choice besides that Woodphoria is vastly underrated. on perfumetok which I probably spend too much time, it’s never talked about but it should be! Woody but not overpoweringly sweet, it’s complex and beautiful.

🍲finally, this was an incredible food week for me filled with vietnamese coffee, taiwanese sweet treats, and chinese hotpot— arguably the greatest invention in the world.
